Documentary Delayed Due To “Technical Reasons”
In a new Instagram post, Estate co-executor John Branca has confirmed that the “Thriller 40” documentary will be coming out this year, and was postponed due to technical reasons.
His post comes just over three weeks since a message from MJ Online was shared regarding the documentaries delay. The “technical” delay could be the result of ongoing negotiations around distribution. It’s unknown yet if the documentary is planned to released on DVD/Blu-Ray, as an online purchase, or to be added to a streaming service, such as Netflix.
Branca is best known for his long association with Michael Jackson. He first started working with Michael in 1980 and played a key role in his career, including the purchase of the ATV Music Publishing catalog, which included the rights to the Beatles’ songs. After Michael’s death in 2009, Branca was named as a co-executor of his estate, and he has been deeply involved in managing Michael’s posthumous affairs.
