‘We Are The World’ is released and becomes a massive number one hit in almost every country it’s released in, including America and the UK. In the USA it goes on to sell over 20 million copies and became the fastest-selling single in US history. A year later at the 1986 Grammy Awards, the song wins multiple awards including Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Music Video.
